Fredrix Titanium Oil Priming-the basic qualities of lead white oil priming are common to this product ,with several exceptions.Titanium dioxide pigment is not toxic in the same sense as lead carbonate, and its historic use in artist applications is limited to about fifty years.Titanium is whiter and more opaque,and does not darken in subdued light as does lead.
However, titanium lacks the flexibility and luminosity of lead white,and most painters prefer the latter's buttery consistency and reputation for historic permanency
